The Moon and Macdee!

Views
Gone are those days when the kids were shown the Moon to feed them...

Now the days have come when kids are shown Coke, KFC, and McDonalds, etc logos & ads to feed them...

Hold on.. I'm not talking about showing them on the roads or from your TV ads...

Soon you will see those big companies' logos & ads in the space. 😄😄  I'm not kidding...

StartRocket, a Russian startup has come up with an idea of putting ads billboards into space. They are planning to send 200 tiny satellites, called CubeSats and they will be placed in specific distances as a grid, will use mylar sails to catch and reflect sunlight to us. So each satellite will work as a cell, that eventually jointly together will display letters and images.  The display would look roughly the size of half moon, potentially from anywhere.

For instance, If they want to display the word "KFC", the height of each word, for instance, the height of "K" will be around 3.75 Kms. That's one hell of a height... Isn't?  😄

That startup has released a promotional video last week.  But astronomers and dark-sky-advocates don't like the idea.

They say “There are over 20,000 objects with orbits and only less than 10 percent are active satellites — the rest are dead satellites, old rocket bodies, and parts of spacecraft.  Launching art projects like this with no commercial, scientific, or national security value seems unwise.."

Some astronomers also believe that the brightness of the ads could make it difficult to do astronomical research from the ground. But StartRocket disputes this claim, saying the displays luminosity will only last six minutes.

More details in the shared video below.

And If you want to put your ads there.. you need to pay.. not that much.. just $200,000 for every eight hours. 😄
